Backyard Farming is growing in popularity wherever there is a little extra space to plant. Thabiseng, who moved to Kayamandi three years ago, is even hiring her neighbours space to plant, grow and sell vegetables. "I could not find work at home in the Eastern Cape so I moved hoping to get a job. But there was nothing here for me either. So I thought about how much I love to garden and saw there was enough space to start growing vegetables. This is my job now." She received 30 chilli plants from a new social enterprise - 'Backyard Farms' - who are commissioning women to grow chilli's for their new range of sauces.
