True Colours Trust – Palliative Care in Malawi
A seven-day field visit across Chiradzulu, Machinga and Mangochi districts in southern Malawi, documenting how palliative care teams reach people living with serious illness – in clinics, on the road and in their homes.
For many families in rural Malawi, a clinic visit means hours on foot, a motorbike taxi they can barely afford, or carrying a loved one on their back. The palliative care teams go to them – walking hill paths and dirt tracks with their medical kits to bring pain relief, counselling and practical support to patients who would otherwise go without.
Images from this commission will feature in a public exhibition in London in April 2027.
"Anna is a joy to work with. Not only does she capture the most beautiful, sensitive and emotive photographs, but she takes time to get to know her subjects, holding human relationships and dignity as the most important element of storytelling. As well as being a wonderful photographer, Anna is a lovely human being, kind, compassionate and incredibly easy to work with. Our work together has felt like a real collaboration, and it's fantastic to meet a photographer who brings such heart and professionalism to a project."
