Monkeybiz is an economic upliftment project dedicated to reviving the traditional craft of African beadwork and empowering women to become financially independent.
Monkeybiz has over 200 artists living in the communities and townships surrounding Cape Town. Mathapelo and her team visit the women on a regular basis providing them with orders and beads and collecting any completed work. This enables the women to work from home, whilst supporting and looking after their children and extended families.
